The Robert Land Project – Building homes and hope for 8 more families in Hamilton!

The lives of 8 families are being prepared for a dramatic change as Habitat for Humanity Hamilton kicks off The Robert Land Project in north Hamilton. On Friday, April 23rd, 2010 Habitat for Humanity Hamilton held its official sod-turning ceremony with home sponsors, CAW Local 555 Union and the Hamilton-Halton Construction Association. Many other community supporters were in attendance as were two of the families that have been selected so far in the 8 townhouse build. Sponsorships of 6 homes are still being sought out through corporate and individual partnerships.

The Robert Land Project is located at 19 Niagara Street in the north end of Hamilton. Habitat for Humanity Hamilton has bought and severed the playground from the Eva Rothwell Resource Centre and is building 8 townhouse units for selected low-income, working families in Hamilton. The project is set to take place in 2 phases; with 4 townhouses built in phase one and the remaining 4 built in phase two.
