Volunteering at Habitat

Regardless of how they choose to help, volunteers with Habitat for Humanity have the opportunity to learn and develop new skills, as well as use and share their own expertise. There is a personal benefit to all who give of their time by volunteering.

During the course of a Habitat build, hundreds of volunteers work under the supervision and direction of trade professionals.

In addition, many other volunteers also participate behind-the-scenes, through their work on various committees or at the ReStore.

Please note that all volunteers on the build site must be 16 years of age or older.

Volunteer Opportunities

Help Build a Habitat Hamilton Home

Construction volunteers help carry out various construction tasks at the build site, under the guidance of skilled professionals. Construction knowledge is an asset — but not essential — as are CPR and First Aid certification.

If you are at least 16 years old, able to lift 30 pounds (about 14 kilograms) or more, and able to use basic tools, please consider coming out to help. Whether it's for a few hours, a day, or several days, any amount of time you can provide will be helpful and appreciated.

If you are a skilled tradesperson, please consider becoming a Team Lead for part of the project.

Please note that no build projects are currently underway in Hamilton; we expect to start our next project in the spring of 2010.
